As I look around and see how far AnimeInfo.org has come since
its first iteration as the series-specific "Ranma ½
Library" site about 6 or 7 years ago, I sometimes say one thing
to myself. No, it's not "this is cool" or "what a
long way we've come" or "ph33r my l33t sk1llz". It's
not "why am I doing this" or "I should just stop
doing this", or anything like that either. It's more along
the lines of shaking my head in a bemused sort of way and saying:
Let's face it- some things don't translate well. Words in different
languages often have similar meanings, not the exact same definition.
To completely understand a language is to understand the whole that
is more than the sum of its parts; knowing the language is not the
same as knowing all the words and correct uses. There's a background
to them that comes from culture and experience.
