"This is the magical girl show that goes against all other magical girl shows. It is a show about a girl named Utena who lost her parents when she was young and met a prince on a white horse who gave her a ring with a rose crest. She ends up going to a school with a mysterious student council that seems to run things. One chance encounter later and she her world is entirely changed..."

"As the movie (Utena : Apocalypse de l'Adolescence) is about to hit the US shores, it might be good to take a look at the TV series, already considered a classical among japanese journalists. Beware : the film and the series base on the same story, but are two different interpretations by the same director. You can watch it without knowing of the series, but keep in mind that movie and series don't develop the same way and more importantly don't lead to the same ending. This said..."
