"Hideaki Anno's major post-Eva release, Kare Kano, was done with the desire to push Gainax away from Eva and its dark mentality. Who would have thought Anno would pull off a romance anime? Well, here you have it, "His and Her Circumstances", straight from Gainax, and definitely an excellent anime..."

These masks, among other purposes, help those who use them blend in better in society - to feel accepted or liked, and to ward off rejection because of the faults of their true self. "His and Hers Circumstances is series is romantic comedy. This series is done by some of the same people that worked on Neon Genesis Evangelion. The Director is none other then Hideaki Anno, and the character designs are by Tadashi Hiramatsu and production by Toshimichi Otsuki. This series though looks nothing like Neon Genesis Evangelion nor is this series as dark and twisted, as NGE has traditionally been known for as well as being friendlier towards all generations..."
