Overview:
Jiyu
Nanohana has always been a normal young girl. Among
one of the smartest (and cutest) girls in her class,
Jiyu has always tried her best in school. But the untimely
death of her mother brings a sense of imbalance to her
life, and even though her father tries to deepen their
relationship, it seems that something is missing. But
her discovery that she is the descendant and host for
the spirit of the legendary samurai Yagyu Jubei will
change her life even more dramatically.

Jiyu
Nanohana: A young 13-year old student, Jiyu
is smart, cute, and overall very well-liked by his
peers. Jiyu has her share of admirers, but her life
is about to take a strange turn when she finds an
odd heart-shaped patch that possesses the power
to turn her into a ninja with all the skills, attitude
and attacks of the legendary Yagyu Jubei. The mystery
of the heart patch is one which Jiyu will discover
in her battles as a ninja.

Shiro
Ryujoji:
Shiro is, at his young age, already peerless in
kendo. He has become a national kendo champion.
However, even a kendo master has his weaknesses,
and Shiro's is Jiyu, who he falls in love with.
However, his affections may be guided astray by
fate, as he later discovers that he is the descendant
of Ryujoji Daigo, the once-arch enemy of Yagyu Jubei.
Because of Jiyu's obvious association with Jubei,
Shiro must now struggle with the overhanging cloud
of his heritage, as well as his feelings for Jiyu.

Bantaro
Sanbonmatsu:
Dressed in the stereotypical "gang" style,
Bantaro is, not surprisingly, the leader of a gang
of rebels that attend the same school as Jiyu and
Shiro. Even though he is very tough and hard to
defeat, Bantaro isn't necessarily one known for
his intelligence, as he ends up getting into a lot
of trouble. He does, however, find Jiyu quite attractive
and falls in love with her on sight. Bantaro's love
for Jiyu can get quite over-protective, as he usually
stops at nothing to beat down any person who tries
to mess with Jiyu in any way.

Yagyu
Jubei II: The form that Jiyu takes when she
dons the heart-shaped eyepatch is very different
from her normal one. Not only do her body and
clothes grow and look different, but her attitude
also changes, to the point of acting and speaking
like the first Jubei did. In this form, Jiyu possesses
all of Jubei's master swordsman's attacks, and
turns out to be a very formidable foe.
