After seeing some artwork surfing the web one day, it occurred to me, "I've got to Have this Series"!!

Based off the manga of the same name (drawn by MEE, if you've heard of Adventures of Kotetsu, that was another one of his work), Hyper Police has nice artwork with some unique character designs, interesting setting (modern looking city with futuristic planes), some nice tunes, and unique storyline(s).

The characters are Natsuki who's part nekomata-human, Sakura who's a kyubi fox, Bantenen who's a werewolf, and Tommy who's also a werewolf. They all have their own unique characteristics: Natsuki-superpowers in which she can summon parasites, Sakura-can fly and is the best shot, Bantenen-most experienced, Tommy-the brain.

Then there's the funny drawbacks...
Natsuki-easily distracted and can launch huge blasts when angry
Sakura-she's from Osaka (I don't need to say too much after that) and she wants Natsuki's powers Bantenen- kind of a player (though he likes Natsuki)
Tommy-a perfect punching bag for Bantenen

I found these characters to develop with the coming events quite nicely (helping each other appropriately and making their wisecracks properly). With some funny episodes (strange dome in city, helping Tommy out with a love problem, a strange time travel, and even an incident with Natsuki's home) there's definitely a good dose of comedy. There's serious ones too though: Police Company in crisis, a group called the cat crusaders, and an interesting final episode involving the fate of the world! This series appealled to me in every way. There's nothing I find wrong with this anime, in fact, it's my favorite anime to date!
