Some
Characters of Note:
Eikichi
Onizuka: Formerly a near-legendary gang member,
Onizuka has a new mission - to become a great schoolteacher.
Of course, part of it is so that he can check out
the beautiful high school girls, but nevertheless,
Onizuka wants to change education. Though his teaching
methods are unorthodox, they have a way of striking
a chord with the students he comes into contact
with.
Ryuji
Danma:
Onizuka's best friend and also a fellow former gang
member. Ryuji and Onizuka came to Tokyo 6 years
ago to start their lives over after tiring of the
gang life. Ryuji was able to go to school, get a
commercial license, and open up his own store. He
is constantly wondering if Onizuka is cut out to
be a teacher but nevertheless encourages him in
his own subtle way.
Azusa
Fuyutsuki:
One of Onizuka's peers, Ms. Fuyutsuki is also a
teacher at the school that Onizuka eventually ends
up teaching at, Holy Forest Academy. While they
both have their ups and downs, Azusa attempts to
help Onizuka whereever possible and believes in
the new way that he is treating education.
Hiroshi
Uchiyamada: The Vice-Principal of Holy Forest
Academy, Mr. Uchiyamada hates Onizuka from the
beginning. A strict traditionalist, he looks for
any excuse to oust Onizuka from his teaching position
although he completely fails every time. Despite
his troubles with Onizuka, however, he has more
pressing problems at home.
