"Golden Boy is about a freester, Kintaro Oe, who
has enough credits to graduate from law school but chose
to study life itself. He travels all through Japan on
his trusty bike, looking for something new to see in
life. Kintaro is certainly interesting, as he is very
willing to learn about life (while he can be a big perv
at times, he also looks willing to help other people)...

"There's something about this short series that
either makes you love it or hate it. It could be that
Kintaro, the main character, can be a bit weird with
his strange fetishes and weakness for beautiful women,
or because he always seems to get in way over his head
yet still manages to miraculously come out triumphant
at the end of each episode... "

"I began to watch Goldenboy more or less ignorant
of what the anime was about, and after the introduction
scene I knew I was in for one hell of an annoying, poorly
made, half-hentai 6 episode series. The anime began
as a rather stupid looking guy almost gets nailed by
a speeding sports car as he rides his bike. The driver
is revealed to be a very scantily-clad woman (BOUNCY
too, an effect accomplished elsewhere by Cowboy Bebop
and Nuku Nuku), as well as hentai), who also ends up
being his boss at a new computer programming firm. I
found this scene to be very indicative of a series I
would hate. Boy was I wrong... "

"James Bond was just as mixed as the martinis that
he drank. He was equal parts agent, hero, and womanizer.
Now take the womanizer part of Bond and multiply that
tenfold, and you get young Kintaro Oe, a man who seems
to obliviously attract women as much as he lusts after
them. Goldenboy's central character is a man of many
talents, but he is, unfortunately, held back by a series
that isn't nearly as deep as him..."
