"The mecha anime sub-genre is one of the most common in the entire medium. As such, it has been getting more and more difficult to deliver a truly innovative mecha anime series, one that grabs your attention and draws you in with new things. While Full Metal Panic doesn't completely give you the sense of something new, it does still breathe life into mecha anime with superb animation, a good storyline, and believable characters..."

"The story is done by Shoji Gatoh and the art is done by Shiki Douji, the artwork is probably the one thing that stands out about this series, combining the more modern and classical styles of drawing anime characters, which gives the series a fresh look to it. However this is not enough to carry the series, nor should the artwork ever be asked to carry the series. The story needs work, to put it nicely. The characters, two are well written enough, but at the expense of the other secondary characters of the series, which ends up hurting this series in the end..."
