Overview:
On the verge of being ousted from his student government office, Katsuhiko Jinnai attempts to silence his rival, Makoto Mizuhara. What ends up happening, however, is their sudden transport to a strange and enchanting new dimension, where Makoto is mistaken for a kidnapped princess of a land called El Hazard, and Jinnai joins up with the Bugrom to oppose Makoto's newfound friends. Now stranded far from Earth in the midst of war, Makoto must find a way home, and the only way to do that, may be to fight the battle against the Bugrom.

Makoto Mizuhara: A popular student at Shininome High, his sudden transport to the land of El Hazard has him searching for the woman who sent him there, impersonating a princess to keep the peace with El Hazard's allies, and fighting off a priestess and a classmate who have the hots for him. Brave despite his seemingly powerless form, Makoto seeks to find a way back to Earth while saving El Hazard from the Bugrom invasion.

Nanami Jinnai : Another refugee from Earth, she is stranded in El Hazard with Makoto, and stands with him against her own power-crazed brother. With the dimensional change, she has developed the power to see through illusions. Too bad that Makoto can't see through his own ignorance to realize that Nanami has more than just friendly feelings for him...of course, her shyness doesn't help.

Katsuhiko Jinnai : Formerly a student body president on the verge of being impeached, Jinnai has decided to deal with Makoto by joining the Bugrom invasion in hopes of conquering El Hazard and ruling the land. His newfound power of omnicommunication allows him to understand and deal with the Bugrom in ways that others cannot, and his tactical planning looks like it may bring El Hazard to its knees.

Masamichi Fujisawa : The home room teacher of Makoto, Nanami, and Katsuhiko, Fujisawa-sensei loves teaching and helping troubled youth more than anything...except possibly liquor and mountain climbing. Unfortunately, booze interferes with his newly aquired superhuman strength and speed, but this doesn't stop him from fighting to help the Alliance and Makoto. His strong will (when sober) also catches the eye of a husband-hungry priestess...
