Overview: A
scream in the night, and a strange light that momentarily
knocked out the electricity in the city is all that the
people have for understanding what exactly happened a
month ago. Things seem to be back to normal, but now mysterious
disappearances and deaths plague the city, bringing back
memories of the serial killer who terrorized the people
with their grisly murders. A select few will experience
the aftermath of the incident - but above it all, the
urban legend of "Boogiepop Phantom", a supposed
harbinger of Death, hangs over the city.

Boogiepop:
Known only in whispers and as an urban legend, they
say that if you encounter Boogiepop on a dark and
lonely night, that you will be taken by her, if
not killed. The recent strange happenings, as well
as the deaths, have been attributed by some to Boogiepop.
But Boogiepop herself may have her own agenda.
Nagi
Kirima:
Beautiful, yet tough like steel, Nagi is investigating
the strange events that have been happening one
month ago as well as trying to make some kind of
connection to either Boogiepop or the killings from
5 years ago. Nagi aspires to be a detective and
once asked a detective she met about what it was
like to be one. She possesses a compass-like item
to help track down the supernatural events and energy
that have begun occurring, and uses a motorcycle
as a means of transport in order to get around the
city.
Jounichi:
Once
an ordinary high school student, Jounichi has since
changed since the incident from a month ago. He
has always wanted to be a hero, someone who did
good for the people of the world - and now he has
his chance with his newfound power. Jounichi has
the power to see into people's hearts and see the
pain that is hidden there, and extract it as well.
However, he may soon realize that the price that
the people he helps have to pay may just be a little
too high even for them to deal with.
Manticore:
The mysterious being who has been preying on the
city, and possibly the serial killer from before
the incident. Nagi knows about Manticore, but
is unaware of its true purpose or motive. While
Manticore looks like a human on the outside, it
is actually a very powerful being that is at the
center of the incident and the happenings outside
of it. Manticore exploits weaknesses in his victims'
mental outlook and personality, manipulating them
to do as he wishes.
