"Almost a genre entirely unto itself, “girls
with guns” has become a staple in anime and and
manga, representing the mediums just as strongly as
the standard mechas, bishojo, and magical girls. While
not the very first representative of the g-w-g genre,
Bubblegum Crisis 2032/2033 was one of the early works
to employ the formula to great success. With character
designs by perfectionist Kenichi Sonoda, the success
of BGC ‘32/’33 comes as no small surprise.
His skill in creating intriguing female characters (psychologically
and physically) creates potential for more than a standard
shoot ‘em up with babes behind the bombs. This
