Overview:
In
the year 2071, Earth has been left uninhabitable by
a catstrophic accident. The human population has spread
out from Venus to Pluto, and with them, criminals and
fugitives have found new ways to play and hide. The
spaceship Bebop serves as home and headquarters to the
bounty hunting team of Spike, Jet, Faye, and Ed. As
they engage upon their various misadventures, they encounter
fascinating, funny, and tragic people...and also, they
encounter their own tragic and mysterious pasts.
Some
Characters of Note:
Spike
Spiegel: The primary character and anti-hero
of the story, he has had himself "killed" and removed
from his mafia ties to roam about the planets at
his own whim. A mix of James Bond, Bruce Lee, and
John McLaine, he finesses, fights, and shoots his
way to the bounty, in his own unique way. His carefree
but moody nature permeates nearly everything he
does, except when a beautiful face comes to haunt
his memories.

Jet
Black:
A little younger than he looks, this former cop
uses his ties to the police, a sharp mind, the right
kind of pressure, and unfaltering persistence to
get his man. Slightly jaded by some of the painful
events of the past, his cybernetic arm and eye keep
him mindful of the lessons that life hands down.
Despite his past pitfalls, he usually remains fairly
cheery, and serves as the ship's cook and Spike's
conscience (since Spike has a habit of destroying
everything and anything).

Faye
Valentine: After
encountering the Bebop on a few adventures of her
own, Faye settles in with the pair, leeching and
sharing the prize money she helps to accrue. At
22 years of age, she seemingly has no past, but
she does have a massive debt she doesn't seem to
wish to pay off, and quite an attitude (according
to Spike, anyhow). Her fine looks and persuasive
charm are often used to bend others to her will
(except Spike and Jet, who seem to be immune).

Edward
Wong Hau Pepelu Tivruski IV:
A hacker of legend who has a large bounty on her
own head, the 13 year-old Edward assists the crew
of the Bebop with her amazing computing skills
and surprising ingenuity. Her continual, light-hearted,
innocent, and curious nature confuse and contradict
the hardened and bitter bounty hunters, and often
brings them to see things in a different light.
