Volume 15 (Sky Blue Cover)
Kung
Fu Stew:
Another typical meal at Furinkan High is interrupted
by a food thief stealing all the bread and eating it
in seemingly an instant! Picolette Chardin II, a French
food conneisseur with one of the biggest mouths (literally)
in existence, challenges an angry Ranma to a food eating
contest, only to completely humiliate Ranma and foot
him with the bill for the meal - 100,000 yen. Things
get even worse when Picolette reveals that 20 years
ago, Soun promised one of his unborn daughters to the
Chardins after losing one of their eating contests.
However, as female Ranma, Ranma will have her chance
at revenge against the master of Martial Arts Eating.
Bad Manors: Ranma's arrived at the house of Picolette,
and Picolette introduces her to the stringent and unforgiving
Madame St. Paul, the woman responsible for training
Chardin "brides to be" in the art of eating
"elegantly", i.e. in Martial Arts Eating.
Putting Ranma through a regimen that would make most
boot camp sergeants pale in comparison, Ranma is forced
to wear a tight iron corset and not ever be seen eating,
even in reaching for food! In an introductory dinner,
Ranma is completely outdone by the Chardins, whose large
mouths and unusually long tongues rob her of every opportunity
to eat - but Akane has prepared something for Ranma
to use in an emergency that might come in handy...
La Miserable: Ranma hasn't eaten in a week, and
it's beginning to show even as Madame St. Paul gets
even harder on Ranma to train in the Martial Arts Eating
style. Akane and Genma, sent by Soun in order to watch
over Ranma, sneak into the mansion as a maid and panda,
respectively, and attempt to sneak food to Ranma. But
a determined Ranma is willing to forsake any feelings
of sympathy in order to master the art, even if he has
to endure Picolette stealing all of her food!
Lekarate De Foie Gras: Though Ranma is improving
slightly at getting bits and pieces to eat in order
to sustain herself, she's still slow when compared to
the extremely quick (and big-mouthed) Chardins, who
manage to finish a meal even before she is halfway through
the main course! However, hope emerges as Soun and Akane
dig up a technique in the history of Martial Arts Eating
called "Parlay De Foie Gras", used by the
only member of the Chardins with a normal sized mouth.
Ranma has to discover its secrets, and must do so quickly,
because Madame St. Paul and Picolette have decided to
speed up the wedding preparations...
Bathroom Training: Ranma finally understands
the Parlay De Foie Gras, and is now determined to master
it in order to win the eating battle and prevent her
wedding to Picolette. Locking herself in a bathroom
with hot kettles and cold buckets, Ranma employs an
unusual technique of hitting only the cold water buckets
day after day. She also begins to not eat as much, slowing
down the speed of her eating. Madame St. Paul suspects
something, and Akane does too - but she may be too late
to save Ranma when she finds a missing page of the Foie
Gras book that describes the danger of the Martial Arts
Eating technique that almost scandalized a family...
Who Masters What?: Ranma has finally mastered
the Parlay De Foie Gras, but it may be at the cost of
her energy as she almost collapses from starvation.
Luckily, the iron corset that Ranma was forced to wear
as a girl has fallen off, and now Ranma decides to challenge
Picolette to a Martial Arts Eating contest in order
to restore her pride and get out of the marriage that
she willingly accepted. The Parlay De Foie Gras is about
force feeding and immobilizing your opponent rather
than eating the food yourself, but Madame St. Paul and
Picolette may have a technique to counter even that...
Dinner Wars : The Final Course: Picolette and
the extremely starving Ranma now face off in front of
all of Furinkan High in order to determine the final
outcome of Ranma's training. Ranma has the Parlay De
Foie Gras on her side, and uses it to complete advantage
and skill. But Picolette manages to counter the Parlay
by shielding himself from its force-feeding effects,
and now Ranma's food is not disappearing from her plate.
As Picolette blocks Parlay after Parlay, and even throws
some of his own, Ranma must now switch techniques, or
risk losing once again to the Chardins.
Do Not Dessert Me: The match continues as Ranma
desperately looks for a way to finish his meal without
the normal use of the Parlay De Foie Gras that Picolette
has learned to counter. Ranma even manages to feed everyone
in the crowd, but it may not be enough as Picolette
decides to block the Parlay completely by eating face
down on his plate, sucking everything up. As Picolette
reaches for the last plate, Ranma must now figure out
how to eat double the plates and still win the match
against the master of Martial Arts Eating...
Hand-Me-Down Ranma: With Nabiki continuously
borrowing (and accidentally ruining) akane's clothes,
and Ranma doing the same with some of her things, Akane
isn't exactly happy at the two of them at the moment.
Yet another botched apology from Ranma (and Nabiki)
makes Akane bash the balcony they are standing on in
anger. And after Ranma saves Nabiki (a girl with no
ability to save herself in a fall) and lets Akane fall,
Akane angrily tells Ranma to switch to Nabiki for a
fiancee - an offer that Nabiki glady accepts. In the
meantime, poor Ranma is caught in the middle of what
could be a bad case of sibling rivalry...
The Terrible Truth!: Nabiki is taking full profitable
advantage of the fact that she is now Ranma's fiancee,
even going so far as to avoid a fight with any of Ranma's
other fiancees by encouraging them to get into a bidding
war over which one of them buys him off of her! Nabiki,
however, is still not a fighter, and Ranma is forced
to protect her even as the other girls realize that
they've been duped. Despite her anger, a worried Akane
keeps a close eye on the relationship between Nabiki
and Ranma - but even she isn't expecting Nabiki to throw
a monkey wrench into the sibling rivalry by confessing
her "true feelings" to a shocked Ranma...
Nabiki's Feelings: Ranma is definitely being
affected by Nabiki's confession to him, and it's something
that makes Akane even more angry and depressed. As Nabiki
continues to take advantage of the situation, this time
by offering to rent Ranma out by the hour to anyone
and everyone, Ranma is left to wonder if Nabiki's feelings
are truly sincere. And though Nabiki is making money
off of the whole situation, she's still subtly trying
to get Ranma and Akane to confess their own feelings
to one another and finally make up. If only Akane believed
that she might be joking about Nabiki's feelings for
Ranma...
I'm
the Victim Here!: A depressed Akane seems to have
given up on Ranma forever, and despite Nabiki's pokes
and prods, doesn't want to admit that she truly is in
love with him. Nabiki hatches a plan to get Ranma and
Akane to make up, and get some quick cash out of the
deal, but her attempts at making Akane jealous only
backfire when Ranma and Akane have another explosive
fight that leaves the two unable to speak to one another...
I'm
Sorry, Akane: Ranma and Akane still haven't really
been able to make up, and even though Nabiki is still
trying to get them back together the two of them seem
to be too stubborn to even talk with one another without
disintegrating into a shouting match. As Nabiki tries
to think of yet another strategy to get them back together,
Ranma finds out that he's been toyed with all along
with Nabiki's "feelings", and plans to strike
back with the worst date a girl could ever go on. But
an extreme backfire is in the works when Nabiki tells
Akane that Ranma wants to go out on a date with her
and not herself...
Maze
of Love: Ranma's dead set on putting Nabiki through
hell and back on their "date", but Nabiki
discovers that the date she actually had Akane substitute
for her for is now a revenge trap! Now Nabiki risks
her own well-being as she decides to bait Ranma into
chasing her into a hedge maze, and right into Akane,
who is once again depressed about the whole situation.
Ranma may be still seeking his revenge however, and
when he finally tries to take it, it may, unbelieveably,
be more helpful than hurtful in the end.
