Boushin

Boushin is the son of Suzaku Seven member Hotohori, the emperor of Konan and the home to the Shrine of Suzaku. Born after Hotohori's death in battle, Boushin never knew his father, and thus has become a very silent and introspective child, having not said his first words. He carries around the teddy bear that Miaka gave Hotohori when they left him behind in Konan to seek the artifacts that would help her summon Suzaku.

Boushin is nearly killed by servants of Tenkou, a demon bent on dominating the world of the book and the real world. However, it is Hotohori's spirit that saves the child, as he possesses him in order to eliminate the spirits. Hotohori is unable to hold Boushin due to his spirit form, and a sympathetic Tamahome allows Hotohori to possess him in order to be able to speak to his son, eventually causing Boushin to break his silence and finally speak his first words.
