Why
AnimeInfo.org?
There
are several main aspects to AnimeInfo.org: Fandom, Information,
Education and Community. Why make a site like AnimeInfo.org,
though there are already plenty of anime sites out there?
It's very simple - we want to provide information and
resources about anime that are not only comprehensive,
objective, and extensive, but also do so in a manner
that also focuses on an oft-overlooked factor in the
success of anime today - the fans. It's mostly a given
that fandom has played a large part in the continuing
rise of Japanese animation outside its native Pacific
shores. That is precisely why many folks tend to overlook
it. We decided that it was time to create a site that
acknowledged fanfics, fanart, fan reviews, and other
such things, all of which are as equally important as
providing when the next batch of anime is coming out,
or which character is which.
You'll
notice many of the site's sections are fan-centered
and fan-dependant. We realize that in doing this, we
are taking a risk - that you, the anime fandom, will
not want to contribute to the various fan outlets we
have put up at this site. But that is a risk we are
willing to take, because we know and trust in your support.
We want this site to be your site, as well as ours.
That's
not to say we aren't skimping on information, of course.
This project is an extension of what was once the Ranma
1/2 Library, a comprehensive general information
site about Ranma 1/2, the gender-bending series created
by Rumiko Takahashi. Like the Ranma ½ Library
once was, we bring that same dedication to the other
featured series that we cover.
In
addition to the series-oriented information, we also
pride ourseves on providing up-to-date news and reviews
on a wide range of series and subjects. We also provide
a growing amount of resource-oriented information such
as the Otaku Dictionary
and Anime University. We are
constantly working to expand the information that we
have as well as add additional information. And we hope
you enjoy every last bit of it. Just be sure to fill
out the feedback form and tell us what you think!
How often will you update?
As often as we can. We are going
to try our best to give our audience the latest and
best in information and news about anime to everyone,
and we have already begun to start observing what's
happening out there right now. The information that
we have available in the
Otaku Dictionary
and Featured
Series will
also be updated as we find out new things. Updates can
usually be found on the main page.
Are
you going to be affiliated with anyone? Companies and
such?
Our
affiliations are decided on a case by case basis. We
look at how an affiliation would benefit all parties
involved. We will take all affiliations into consideration
but do not guarantee acceptance of any or all affiliations.
Affiliations may be denied without reason. In light
of this, we would also like to say that the opinions
that may be expressed on this site are not necessarily
the opinions of the staff of AnimeInfo.org, and should
not be viewed as such. If you are interested in an affiliation,
you MUST contact Frank,
Asuka, or Misato.
I
really like that one part of your site. Can I copy it
for my own use?
This depends from case to case.
Obviously, we want to provide a site which is able to
serve as a reference point for people to get anime information
off of this site for their own use. But at the same
time we're proud of our own hard work and do not want
to feel like it's being taken without giving credit
where it is due. In -all- cases, you MUST contact Frank,
Asuka, or Misato.
Original artwork on the site is the property of the
artists, and for the Fanart
section, you must contact the artists. AnimeInfo.org
will not place anyone in touch with the artist. Original
artwork for the site (which include but not limited
to: Mascotts, and Staff Representations) is created
by Vic Fieger, and is © 2000,2001, 2002-2010. AnimeInfo.org
and approved sites (cafepress.com, spacec.net, animeinfo.org)
have express permission for the use of said images and
are for the sole use of AnimeInfo.org and Vic Fieger.
Any Permission to use said images elsewhere must first
have written permission obtained from BOTH AnimeInfo.org
and Vic Fieger and may be denied for any reason without
explanation.
If
you are intending to copy some information or original
graphics from the site, you are more than free to take
the information off of the site and use it as a reference
point when designing your own - however, copying word
for word without consent and credit is unacceptable,
and will be dealt with accordingly. This may sound harsh,
but putting it in perspective, it is what we think is
most fair in terms of striking a balance between giving
out information and being able to take it and use it.
The
site looks ok - but where is all the great multimedia?
Videos? Music?
Downloadable
multimedia (i.e. pictures, sounds, music, etc.) is something
which we do admit is lacking on the site. There are
several factors which figure into the somewhat diminished
selection as compared to other sites.
First
are space issues. We do not have unlimited space and
storing such files on our server would only take up
bandwidth and valuable space which we could use to make
more informational pages. It is something that is out
of our control at this time. Second are legality issues.
Copyright policies, and their enforcement, vary from
company to company in the anime industry. Some companies
are very lenient about what they allow, and some are
more stringent. In any case, we are not about to risk
a legal battle over the legitimacy of the site, one
which may end up in its temporary or permanent suspension/shutdown.
That is why we do not offer full videos or full songs
for download.
Third
is an issue about the purpose of the site. We feel that
the site is to be more focused on information, rather
than downloads. There are some nice minor goodies here
and there that you can download (like Windows wallpapers
and such), but for the most part, we do want to focus
on the information and the fan contributions that we
are bringing to the site.
What
are your plans for the future?
We
are continually expanding the sections we already have,
In addition to creating new sections and adding additional
Featured Series. Please check in with the staff for
more information or check our message board section
for updates.
