Well, I'm hoping that this course
has given you a good basic outline of the fundamentals
of manga, and something you can work off of as you discover
more about manga in general. If you're chomping at the
bit to get your hands on some manga that you can read
after reading this course, I've definitely got a few
recommendations for you. These series fit into all sorts
of genres in the manga field and are all quite well
known in manga fandom. They won't bombard you with anything
confusing, and are great gateways into the manga fandom.
Now,
without further ado, here are some "manga study
materials" for your extracurricular research outside
our little course. I hope you keep an open mind when
reading manga and hope that reading it may give you
a better idea about what makes it so interesting:

Story: Ranma
Saotome is just your average martial artist..until
he visits a place of cursed springs in China while
training with his father. The springs are enchanted
so that whoever falls in a particular spring is
definitely in trouble - whenever the victim is hit
with cold water, they turn into whatever drowned
in that spring. Hot water changes them back...but
only until the next time! Ranma ends up falling
into the Spring of Drowned Girl, and now turns into
a girl when hit with cold water. At around the same
time, Ranma is informed of an arranged marriage
between his father, Genma, and his old friend, Soun
Tendo. Soun has three daughters - the youngest of
which, Akane, is now engaged to Ranma. Unfortunately,
the two don't really get along...but through all
the hijinx and the fighting, they somehow discover
how to love one another. |

Cats

Domestic Release: Dark Horse Comics
Story: In the city of Chicago, crime is rampant,
and sometimes not even the local police are enough
to stop the bad guys. Enter sharpshooting bounty
hunter Rally Vincent and her diminuative but seductive
partner Minnie May, an explosions expert. With their
skills, these two literally have a deadly combination
of guns and grenades that's sure to stop any criminal
in their tracks. (Warning: contains some nudity
and sexual situations, though its main genre is
indeed action). |

and the rest of the AMP to put a stop to the demons
and discover the truth behind their horrible plans

Story: Miaka Yuki has always been a normal
girl living a normal life as an aspiring high school
student. One day, however, all that changes as her

library that takes them to ancient mythological
China. In order to save the land of Konan and go
home, Miaka must now become the legendary Priestess
of Suzaku and gather the warriors of the Suzaku
Seven together, but when she falls for the money-loving
but gentle martial artist Tamahome of the Suzaku
Seven, she may have second thoughts. |
Well,
those are my recommendations. I certainly hope that
they will help broaden your manga horizon and get you
started on the path of manga fandom. If you happen to
like manga even more after reading these and other series,
and check out the anime based on their stories. Don't
hesitate to read up on more of the courses on our
site or find other sites or people that you know
like anime and manga. Anime/manga an intriguing and
interesting medium, followed by many people around the
world, and my hope is that someday it will be widely
accepted as such.
