Of the tons of anime and manga fans out there, only
some of them attend anime conventions all around the
country (and the world, for that matter) every year.
Of those attendees, only a select few try to work for
anime conventions. Even fewer end up in positions of
authority and in a place where they can really make
an impact. Regardless, anime convention staffing is
an interesting experience, and it sounds appealing to
quite a few people.
Maybe it's boredom. Maybe it's a
new challenge. Or maybe you're just plain insane. If
you attend anime conventions, and you're seeking to
become a staffer at a convention (or are just interested
in what it takes), you should definitely look at this
class first. Frank, a tried and true con staffer and
volunteer for many years, takes you through the basics
of staffing an anime convention. No frills here - staffing
is a tough job and it takes dedication. Even if you
go through this little primer, and you still want to
get sucked into the black hole of con staff, you'll
at least be a little prepared for what's to come!
